Gems around the map ?

So I joined a game and behind my garden was a giant gemstone, which had to be activated 5 times. There were 6 other gemstones all throughout the map as well and unfortunately my game glitched up before I could find out what it was before it disappeared (very upset about)

Is this for the new update / Has anyone else seen it?
