Do I leave my $82,000 job for new $120,000 job

So I currently work for my local jurisdiction making $82,000 salary. The pros are it’s close to home, my work doesn’t come home with me, I have weekends off, great benefits and retirement but most importantly I have job security. If I stay in this position I can top out at $107,000 which will gradually increase over time.

I recently interviewed for a job that is offering $120,000 salary that would be work from home mostly but would require me to travel to neighboring states from time to time on an as needed basis. I’m unsure if I would work more than a standard 40 hour work week which I really would like to avoid working any more, especially being salaried. Benefits are okay. My biggest concern is transitioning back to private industry. If things get rocky I don’t want my position to be cut and I’m out of work suddenly.

Working for the city is great, and I love that I’m secured with my position. On the other hand the pay for this job is extremely enticing. Not a big fan of having to travel from time to time but I could make it work.

Just feeling conflicted here.

TLDR; current job pays decent and have job security while new job offer pays more but has drawbacks such as travel and potential job insecurity one day.
