persistent infection with negative test results

I’ve been struggling with vaginal itching and irritation for about a year and a half now, and I’m really hoping someone here might have ideas I haven’t tried yet.

Back in Dec 2023, I thought I had a yeast infection. I used two doses of Monistat and the symptoms went away—until my next period. When they returned, I tried Monistat again but it didn’t help, so I went to my doctor. I was prescribed Diflucan, which did nothing, then another antifungal (terconazole) for a different type of yeast. That one helped, but the relief didn’t last. Pelvic exams and tests kept coming back negative.

Later, a gyno prescribed antibiotics (no improvement), more yeast medication, and boric acid. The antifungal worked while I was taking it, but the irritation returned once I stopped. She also gave me an oral probiotic meant for vaginal health, which I still take because it seems to help somewhat. Over time, my symptoms eased up, so I assumed the problem had finally resolved.

Then in May 2025, after swimming in an outdoor chlorinated pool, the itching came back just like before. My gynecologist ran more tests—still negative. Bloodwork for celiac and diabetes came back clear, but my eosinophil count was high. My doctor said that could point to allergies, but I’m not aware of any. She prescribed one dose of terconazole, which helped a lot, but as soon as I finished it, the symptoms returned.

Boric acid helped again, but recently I tried on a swimsuit bottom and the irritation flared up instantly, along with thick, white, odorless discharge. Now I’m wondering—could this be an allergy or sensitivity to spandex/latex in swimsuits, or maybe some harder-to-detect infection?

If anyone has experienced anything similar or has suggestions, I’d be so grateful to hear them.
