Event troops in war?

So, my clan just started a war and I have event troops loaded up. When I click on attack, the broom witches are greyed out and a little pop up says to remove temporary and event troops. So I assume these event troops can’t be used in war. That’s fine.

Except, then I go watch some replays of attacks against our clan and our bases 1 and 2 were flattened by broom witches! What gives? Are they allowed or not?
