Is this the perfect "Echo of Glory" game?
We lost.
I won't say "the UEFA Super Cup is a bullshit trophy that means nothing to no one." It'd have been fun to have it, and we don't have it.
We lost to the best team in the world. After absolutely flummoxing them for 85 minutes, and giving up the tying goal after 4 of 6 minutes of stoppage time. We lost by a single penalty shot to a team whose aggregate value exceeds ours by 50%. The margins were two minutes and one shot. I can't express how little I am upset by the result.
I brought up the lineup before the game and saw a 5-3-2 and immediately thought "plan." And for the bulk of the match, we were dominated in possession, and dominated PSG in shots and shots on goal. This plan, + Kane/Son even at their current levels, and Romero is scheduling a post-parade designated driver. I am incredibly encouraged, even in this loss.
"Even failure will have in it the echo of glory." Hard to judge in the moment, but does this seem like a perfect "echo of glory" match?
