Mention business in ties to state essay?

Received a secondary today from a state school that I am not from, but have a lot of family ties to. They have a section to explain your ties to the state, so other than mentioning my family ties, do I mention my family's business? My family owns a large business with multiple locations in the state. Would it be weird to talk about this if I've never worked there myself?
