Do I have a chance?
Hey all, I’ve been looking into getting my MBA for quite some time, I’ve wanted to work in IB but couldn’t break in out of undergrad. Went to a big state school and not a prestigious one and got a 3.57 GPA majoring in finance. After graduation I worked in acquisitions at a CRE investment firm, got a promotion and went to the brokerage side thinking this would be more like banking. It’s a global Fortune 500 shop and I’m probably gonna get another promotion soon. I’m a straight white male, who volunteers at habitat every week and am in some clubs.
I don’t have a lot of money so I’m trying to decide weather or not taking the gmat is worth it. Like if I buckle down and score something realistic like a 740 can I break into T15/M7? I’m looking at Johnston, Tuck, Booth, Kellogg, Stern, CBS right now now.
Seriously would appreciate any feedback here or if there’s some other way I can juice up my resume please let me know. I know I’m going to have some glowing recommendations but I would like to know what I’d have to score for this dream to come a reality. None of my buddies have done this so I don’t know who to reach out to regarding this topic and I’m pretty poor so spending this kind of money on studying materials is going to be a lot. I’m getting a lot of mixed feedback from this sub so I’d like someone to shoot me straight.
Also 3 years of experience, would apply next year and have 5 by the time I start the full time program.
Thanks!
