New f1 appointment

I’m a May 2025 grad, starting a predoc program this fall. The f1 visa stamp says it expires August 2026. I’m going back home (to India) in December so I know I’ll be okay coming back because I have a valid i20 and everything. The question is should I get an appointment for my new visa stamp in December itself or wait till I go back home again in May/June 2026. I’m worried about my current visa potentially being cancelled.

Idk if this matters but eventually my goal is to do a PhD after this predoc.
