Possible new monster??

Hello everyone, I’m kinda very creeped out at what’s (hopefully) a new monster in peak and not an actual creepy pasta. I was playing solo on ascent 3 and just made it to the first campfire. As I was walking towards the statue I saw a characters head poke out from behind a rock and go back down after about three seconds of endless eye contact. It kept doing this over and over until I finally walked over to it where it disappeared behind the rock. I unfortunately died in the mesa but never saw it again. I cannot find any information on this at all. I have a Snapchat video of it happening but not sure hot to upload videos.
