Most of my guests won't attend my wedding and it makes me want to cry.
I'm using a throwaway account as I don't engage with reddit anymore, but I felt I needed to vent to someone besides my fiance.
I am getting married abroad in few weeks and so far (unless someone else backs out) only 10 of guests from my side are going to attend my wedding, including my immediate family. I understand flying abroad is a commitment but when some of my closest friends I had for years tell me they cannot make it, it really hurts. For some, I understand why they can't make it, but some others it feels like they didn't want to commit. Which hurts especially as I have attended their weddings often at great financial expense. Then you have to constantly receive those messages from one person to the next it's constant wave of rejection, tonight I received another message from friends who said they're not gonna make it and tbh at this stage it brought me to the verge of crying.
There are gonna be plenty of guests, but they are mostly from my fiancé's side as we are moving to their country. They are gonna have about 25 for the meal and another 50+ for the after party and the disparity in the numbers makes me feel embarrassed even. Embarrassed and disappointed. I also want to mention, the wedding is abroad but its not that far from where I live, it's an hour flight and we gave our guests plenty of heads up.
Has anyone had to deal with their wedding numbers falling far beneath their expectations?
