Left last week
I recently left my delivery driver position at Kroger and wanted to share some feedback.
Company: Employees are paid $20/hour but face unrealistic demands, including being judged on customer surveys we can’t control. There’s no limit on heavy items like water, so we end up hauling multiple cases to high floors in extreme heat. Routes aren’t always available, trucks are often unsanitary and in poor condition, and we are sometimes sent home unexpectedly—making it hard to pay bills. We barely can afford lunch.
Customers: I enjoy helping the elderly and disabled, but large orders—$500+ with multiple cases of water or soda—are exhausting. Mistakes happen, like baggers mixing detergent with bread and eggs. Deliveries are to the front door by policy, and not all special requests can be met. Please be patient—drivers are working hard in hot conditions and sometimes face allergies or other hazards.
