Pivoting from Life Sciences to Business Analytics — Advice on Networking and Finding Entry-Level Roles?

Hi Reddit,

I graduated in 2024 with a life sciences degree because I originally wanted to pursue medicine. After graduation, I realized it wasn’t something I actually wanted to do. I didn’t want to commit to a career that was causing me anxiety and didn’t feel right.

Currently, I work at a call center—basically a customer service role. It’s not terrible, but it’s unfulfilling and doesn’t give me the mental stimulation I crave. In a somewhat spontaneous decision, I applied to an online Master’s program in Business Analytics. I know people usually say you should think these things through, but I was just craving any kind of intellectual challenge, and this seemed like a good fit. The more I’ve worked on projects, the more I’ve realized I’m genuinely interested in the field.

For the past few months, I’ve been applying nonstop but haven’t been landing interviews. I’ve also struggled to find true entry-level roles. I’m trying to move internally within my current company, but my department has little interaction with others. While internal roles are posted, I don’t meet the requirements and feel underqualified.

I’m wondering: is there a way to network or pivot internally without coming across as obnoxiously needy? Or any advice on breaking into business analytics as someone coming from a completely different field?

Any guidance or perspectives would be so appreciated!
