Struggling with Religion

Firstly, I would like to say I was raised extremely Christian from a very young age and I went to a private Christian school up until 4th grade. Since religion was so heavily pressured into me I always struggled with believing in God as a kid. I still would get that guilty feeling if I sinned, but I never felt like I was growing a relationship with God like my peers were. Once I went to public school and I essentially lost my innocence and naiveness I felt less guilty in not wanting to believe in God.

The last 2 or so years (I am now 22) I sometimes have gotten a feeling that I want to practice my faith again, no specific reasons. This summer I went to church for the first time in many many years and it really resonated me. There were a few things I couldn’t agree with but I did enjoy it. I’ve been trying to do Bible studies but I always push it off and don’t get to it but I do think of God often. My biggest struggle is that I really believe in science, I believe in evolution, and I believe in gay rights. Now, I wouldn’t classify myself as a liberal but I definitely lean more towards the left than the right. Needless to say, are there people who are more liberal who believe in God? I truly want to, but I will always want there to be gay rights, abortion, stuff like that because I only see that as a basic human right. I respect everyone’s beliefs I just don’t believe them myself.

I hope what I wrote made sense and I’m honestly a little nervous to post it. Again, I want to be able to practice my faith and I genuinely want a close relationship with God but there are certain things I don’t believe I would be able to accept/let go of. Looking for some good insight on this.
