Staying in a bad situation to avoid loneliness?
I’m not even in a relationship with this guy but I’m hanging on to this ‘FWB’ situation to avoid feeling alone.
I actually appreciate solitude, I take myself out to dinner, treat myself to shopping sprees here and there, I just came back from my first solo trip, I go to the movies, the museum and park alone. I understand the value of being alone, I do love myself. But when I’m alone at night, that’s when it all hits, all of these things I’ve done do not fix the deep loneliness I feel.
My fwb called me to hangout, I told him he’s free to come over but I’m on my period so we wouldn’t be doing anything sexual because I’m in pain. He never asked if I was okay, he asked if I would still give him head.. he makes comments that give the idea that there’s hope for more between us, but I know they’re empty words. He says we should move in together because I know how to cook and clean.. and only then would it make sense to become an official couple. He laughs while saying it but I know he’s not joking. He doesn’t care about me, not even as a friend really. Yet, at the end of the call, I still agreed to see him next week. I cried afterwards because it finally hit me that I’m willing to stay in the most ‘bare minimum’ type of relationship to escape deep loneliness.
I don’t know what to do, I’m scared to let go. I’ve done the whole ‘love yourself, enjoy singleness’ thing. I feel like I’ll have nothing to look forward to.
