Is a 2mm band a must for a “larger” diamond?

Looking to get a round diamond around 2.2 carats with a classic six-prong solitaire and my absolute favorite ring I’ve found is 1.8.

Will the six prong help its case or is it still a no-no to get a 1.8 or 1.9 no matter what with a 2+ carat stone? Lab grown if that makes a difference. Thanks friendos :)
