Is it just where I live or have drive thrus gotten wayyyyy longer to get through in recent years?

When I was younger I remember being able to go through a mcdonalds or taco bell drive through in like a minute or two, it was perfectly viable to go to any of these places for my lunch break. These days I avoid fast food entirely not just because the prices are outrageous, but good god it takes like 15 minutes to get through a mcdonalds drive thru, then when you get to the window they park you and it's another 5 minutes of waiting. Literally my whole lunch break would just be spent waiting for a mcdouble with fries.

It's not just mcdonalds either, panda, jack in the box, all of them just take so long its hardly convenient if you're under any type of time limit. I worked at mcdonalds in 2017 and I remember we had some sort of system where we couldn't have a car in our drivethru for more than I think 5min? We'd have to park large orders yeah but that was rare. Does anyone in who works in fast food know the cause? I'm not gonna blame the workers, often poor efficiency comes from the top.
