CMV: I do not think individuality or just being different is socially beneficial

I have been told for a long time that being different is good but I find it hard to believe. I think most people seem to dislike any form of different. I personally have been treated poorly based on the way I dress, look, move, things I like. I find it that being common or normal is in your best interest. I do agree the “opposites attract” is a thing that exists but I think it is uncommon. I have never found privilege in not having something in common with something. The reason behind this post is that I just want to be wrong as someone who has nothing in common with anyone and is very lonely. I admit all my data is anecdotal and I live in the UK so maybe that’s linked somehow but wherever I go I feel being different is bad. As a person who is brown in a primarily white area it’s really not nice.
