DIY PCIe riser/extension cable feasibility
I only need a x1 slot.
I have an idea in mind for roughly how I would like to execute this:
I plan to adhere strips of aluminum foil to a useless PCB using contact cement. (This part is to be inserted into my motherboard)
I then plan to solder jumper wires from an Arduino kit to said aluminum foil strips.
To make the slot which the PCIe device is inserted into, the other ends of the wires are to be soldered to the pins of the 2 slots of an old SLI bridge (these SLI bridge slots seem to have identical connections to typical PCIe slots)
I know the SLI bridge slots are different lengths, but this is too unimportant to talk about as the 2 slots have enough pins anyways.
If necessary I can set the motherboard PCIe slot which this silly DIY device hypothetically will be inserted into to use PCIe 1.0 or something if that reduces the "engineering" requirements for this DIY PCIe riser/extension cable.
My question is does this device have a possibility of working, or will the crosstalk, etc. be too much?
