[LoTM ch 140] how did he get all these potion formulas?

reading chapter 140, Klein tried to divine the origins of this yellow sun liquid stuff that comes from the sun emblem artifact thing. but i guess the liquid is the blood of a god, like the sun god? and he got burnt. but now all of a sudden he's writing down all these potion formulas. did he just get them from touching the sun liquid? i'm not understanding why that would give him this knowledge. also the sun pathway's sequence 9 is NOT called sun?? it's called bard? i thought sequence 9 of every pathway was the name of the pathway. anyway, am i understanding everything right. could anyone explain as long as it's not spoilers. i'm enjoying my time with this story.
