Here is some theory i got for ya:

The World Lotus is the surely one if not the strongest entity on the game (even above seek( it hurt to say as a seek fan...) and he is surely a crucial piece to the lore. Here is why:

The World Lotus is powerfull as f**k, capable to infect other entity as Mandrake, Eyestalk and seemingly in a what seem as a easter egg, the jackass of Monument (if you do not encounter them yet, trust me, you gonna hate them) also capable of reviving people with the lotus, adapt his behavior to look more like a regular entity and seem to evolve really quickly. So much so that even curious light, the second main architect seem to be out of control. Here id my theory: What of the World Lotus is the one balancing the doors world? Here me out: in the buddhism lotus represent harmony. Also in some myth, it is a symbol of purity, wisdom, and more quality but it can also cause apathyand be addictive to balanced the thing. To return in the buddhism, it take an 8 petalef lotus to reach harmony. And how many lotus petal we need to give to grumpy (an new friendly entity) to receive a lotus that allowed use to revive. 8. 8 petals like the one in buddhism that bring harmony. And when you think of it it is kinda reliated like the lotus seem to be a big threat to use but still seem to be a helping hand by basically be the main reason for us to "craft" a lotus to grumpy and dont seem to really care pf us coming back unlike other entity. It seem to be good and bad at the same time, an helping hand and an antagonist at the same time. Due to his immense power, the fact that it seem to spring in every floor and that he is helping us and attack us at the same time make me feel like he is more than a subfloor boss but the one that pull some string. Is he one a the celestials? Above the architect? That is just my theory.

Btw, sorry if my english was not on top, it is my second language. And that my first theory ever and i am writing this at 21:40 so im kinda tired. Hope you enjoy it tought.
