[general] Why do people want to be demigods?

Something I’ve noticed in the PJO fandom is that people really want to be demigods. While it is good for people because demigod cabins are a nice way for people to identify with something bigger than themselves, and to have a group of people they find themselves being a part of, being a demigod is very dangerous.

Yes, while it is true that being a demigod adds excitement to your life, compared to the mundane reality of our real world, that’s not necessarily a good thing. Demigods have high death rates and monsters can smell them and quite literally kill them. And I’m sure that most demigods die a really painful death. My whole point is that ignorance is bliss. The more you know, the more you worry.

But I’m curious. For people with Demigod flairs, why do you want to be a demigod? Do you see yourselves being able to connect better with people in the fandom & have a more enjoyable experience overall?
