AITAH for ghosting a date and then apologising 2.5years later?

So basically I met this guy via Bumble. We had a good conversation so I thought that I’ll meet him. I was meeting him in the middle of my break up. My partner had cheated on me multiple times and I wanted to get even. I was in an emotional and knew it beforehand that I wasn’t gonna cheat. I met the new match and we had food and drinks. I realised he knows my dad because he is in the same profession as him. I realised I have over shared and tried to shorten the date. I was not rude about it. He also looked very different from his pictures and I felt almost as if I was meeting someone else. But I didn’t say anything about this because what if someone is going through a medical condition? He messaged me only one text after our date “Thanks for a lovely time 😘 (if I am allowed to send this” and I broke. I never reverted to him even tho, the date was good-ish. Even that one text was his last text.

A few months later, my partner completely ghosted me and moved on with another girl. I took some time off of the social media apps and dating apps..say about a year. Then I went abroad to pursue my further education. I knew always that I had done the wrong thing. I reached out to him on Instagram after 2.5years then and he mentioned that he was hurt by my ghosting. I apologised and told him about both the reasons: him knowing my dad and my cheating partner. He forgave me.

I wanted to be completely honest this time so later I also sent another voice note telling him that his pictures didn’t match his real look which made me feel little skeptic. I told him that he looks fine as he is and he should be proud of it and not be worried. As a person who dates elder guys, I tend not to care about the looks much. I like intellect, honesty and chivalry wayyyy more. He simply asked me “why are you doing this? I’m just curious” to which I replied I am trying to express the whole truth. He said “Good, did you get it all out?” I said “yes” and he said “good” again and then convo over. A lil more context: He is in US now, a doctor and I am in the UK. We have few mutuals but no one too important. He and I follow each other on Instagram now but I don’t know why do we? Because I don’t see any enthusiasm from his side to have a conversation. I recognise that ghosting is bad but at the same time, he never texted again after that kiss emoji message which was right after the date. And I was okay to apologise and not follow or whatever..so what now? 🥲

On a side note: Over the past few days, I’ve apologised to a lot of people I’ve hurt over the years unintentionally. I try to be a good person, but even the most well-intentioned people are capable of hurting others. I’m 25, I have apologised to people since I was the age of 10. As kids we are dumbos and don’t understand zilch. It was important for me to do this because if as grown ups we have certain realisations, we should apologise for hurting other people’s inner children. Which I have done. I feel no regrets. Many have reverted positively and many haven’t, which is okay with me. I wish someone had apologised to me for causing me harm and stealing my innocence when I was younger. I remember being called “pimply”, “dark-skinned b****”, “chape” (someone who is a people pleaser), “a dead-mom user” (using my mom’s death for fitting in) and what not.

Please let me know what you think of my situation 🙏
