Looking to expand off mainstream music! Suggestions?

As someone who’s always listened to music other people put on, I’ve never had the chance to expand my own palette or dip my feet into non-mainstream artists. After getting a new pair of headphones though I really want to try developing my own music taste and expand from the same mainstream artists.
