Closed VS Open Weapons

WHY are people so adamant on open weapons?? Battlefields class system always abided by there being closed weapons. Battlefield 2042, the first game to severely deviate from closed weapons (and classes in general) was a massive failure, has anyone in favor of open weapons actually played any past battlefield games?

Open weapons should be optional but the default (as in main playlists or a majority of official servers) should be closed weapons, it shouldn’t be presented as the irregular versions of the modes
