Mid-life meltdown
My partner sent me this subreddit earlier today & I’ve been reading through with tears.
I’ve only just realized that so much of how people respond to me is because of my autism, long story long, I just cut off my entire family bc I finally realized how abusive they were. I’m finally realizing how many people were just using me, how many fake friends there were around me I truly loved, supported, and would do anything for but they all left me when I got Long Covid.
I struggle with moving on and letting go, but I know I must. It just feels like I’ve lived half my life totally in the dark, like I’m a muppet and NTs are the humans. Except I have no other muppet friends.
And now I don’t trust myself because of so much that went over my head. I want to start again, find meaningful real relationships, make use of my many talents, and not get taken advantage of anymore…please give me some words of hope.
