Lanolin?

Does anyone have experience with using lanolin (sheep’s grease, as a few old men I knew used to call it) for soothing psoriasis? I know a bloke who swears by it for his eczema, but I’m a little hesitant to try - it stinks, and I’ve heard a lot of people have bad reactions to it.
