Bone Market Recipies 19/08 Ancient Amphibians, Malacologist, Menacing Diplomat
Welcome to another bone post. Never give a man a bone, teach a man to bone, then he will be boned for the rest of his life!
Ancient Amphibians is a lovely combination with a bunch of different options. The malacologist sucks but we will have plenty to do with normal recipies so lets get crackling(That too, in the rat market).
I want scrip!
Then scrip you will have my fine fellow/lady/rubbery. Menace and Antiquity is the only bone combo that allows for a pure scrip reward. Shai Hulud be praised.
An Author of Gothic Tales
Primary: Hinterland Scrip
Cheeky bonus: 5 (2.5 echos)
Secondary: Carved ball of Stygion Ivory (sells UR for 5 scrip, or use for beheading skeletons)
Hippo With Worms
Mammoth Ribcage, Sabre Toothed Skull, 3 Femur of a Jurassic Beast, 1 Unidentified thigh(Or Ivory Femur if you are feeling flush), 1 Jet Black Stinger, Slice off the tail, declare an Amphibian.
68.5 echos profit in pure scrip. 6.85 EPA (10 actions rather than 9 because of the tail slicing.)
Platypus With Worms
Thorned Ribcage, Ancient Skull, 4 Femur of a Jurassic Beast, 1 Tomb-lion's tail, slice the tail, declare
58.95(Probably gets rounded one way or the other) echos profit in 10 actions, 5.9 EPA
I want Stuvier! Oui, je comprends mon ami/mon amie/mon infernalie. One of the better london based methods of getting your hands on scrip is to make some skeletons with Antiquity and Amalgamy. Nodules of Warm Amber sell for stuvier although you lose half of the value doing that. It's better just to get Stuvier in Burgandy, however, if you must you can. Nodules also mean you can give the rubbery men 100 whenever you draw the card in London. This makes the card over 8 EPA! They are also essential for the butcher in ealing gardens, which is an inefficient, but sometimes necessary way to get bones. They can also be used to add 4 more joints to your skeleton, this is very expensive so only do it if you have a solid plan for making the expense back. It's 12.5 echos + 2.5 echos*(number of limbs on current ribcage^2). So even on a leviathan frame, you are looking at 22.5 echos. On something like a mammoth it's 52.5 echos! Since the primary is so hard to spend(Although, you always want to have a respectable stack of it!), and the secondary is sellable at full value for echos or scrip, we shall focus on maximising the secondary rewards rather than making the most of the 10%
A Zailer with Particular Interests
Primary Reward: A Nodule of Warm Amber
Cheeky Bonus: 25 (2.5 Echos, equivalent)
Secondary Reward: Knob of Scintillack
Repas Délicieux (Yeah, I made a frogs legs joke ;p)
Mammoth Ribcage
Skull in Coral
2 Femur of a Jurassic Beast
1 Helical Thighbone
1 Unidentified Femur
Say it needs no tail
Declare
56.5 echos profit in 9 actions 6.29 assembly EPA
Amalgamy as a secondary is a little awkward, ideally you want 3 points to go with 6 of your primary but the only ribcage that has 1 is Thorned, which is menace not antiquity. The only skulls with 1 point are Doubled, which breaks the skeleton, and rubbery which takes 30 actions to farm(and you should sell it, not use it, it is undervalued in Skeltons as 30 echos.) There are arms with 1 point but amphibians have no arms. Helical Thighbone adds 2 so with any Amalgous skull, or with a flourishing, you are on 4 already. There is a solution, which is to use an Obsidian Chitin Tail, unfortunately that can only be acquired from a heist. There are no efficient sources of casing, even parabola is bad at 28 for 3.5 actions and there are no ways to spend casing at better than 5 EPA. So if the best uses in the game are bad, think how bad this low level heist is… At least you get 5 of them from it. It would be more manageable with 2 antiquity legs or a tail but we work with what they give us.
Bombs!
Solo multipliers are not as good as multi multipliers for normal skeletons but they are fantastic when it comes to bombs! Not only is it a lot easier to get a decent amount of a single stat. They can get much higher over the 50 echos per exhaustion that you would expect
Yeah, I'm a nerd...
So it looks like 7 Antiquity for 1 Exhaustion and 69 echos per point of exhaustion is best but you need to take into account the extra actions per point. You can do up to 7 exhaustion right before time the healer and still be able to use the market next week so you can do a 14 Antiquity frame(probably not, easy with amalgamy though) or do 3 x 7 antiquity and the 1 x 11 antiquity to get you from 3 to 7.
An Investment Minded Ambassador
Primary: Memory of Light
Cheeky Freebie: 5 (2.5E)
Secondary: A Tailfeather As Brilliant As Flame (Sell for echos or scrip, very few other uses, I vaguely think there might be one in Burgandy)
The other solo sellers give secondary rewards in 0.5 echo value, so the sum for this looks weird, it's just the same though. 2echos*(Antiquity^2.1)
Flatulant Bufonidae
Mammoth Ribcage
Sabre Toothed Skull
4 Femur of a Jurassic Beast
no tail
136.2 echos profit 9 actions = 15.13 EPA (1 Exhaustion)
And after all that preamble, that's it. 8 is the highest you can get antiquity on an amphibian and that is just 1 extra exhaustion for worse profit. You could do it with your last point, just to get you to 5 exhaustion. Just add a tomb lion tail then slice it off. I didn't get to use the name Bombarding Bombinatoridae (Fire Belly Toad) :(.
Malacologist, Malaka more like!
Well, it turns out the greeks were right about her all along, she sucks.
The Menacing Diplomat!
Your aim for a menacing diplomat is any skeleton with 9 Menace. That will give you 81 Comprimising Documents as a secondary reward. I made a mistake on the post saying the diplomat was menacing. My abomination has 8 of each stat. Because on the specific type weeks and on skulls week it is the combination of Menace + Amalgamy + Antiquity divided by three to the power of 2.2. I didn't realise that the individual stat weeks it is just squared. Here is the abomination, it's good for skull weeks only but you just have to shuffle 1 point around to make it work for menace, amalgamy or antiquity.
Diplomatic Abomination
Prismatic Frame
3 Doubled Skull
2 Amber Crusted Fin
1 Albatross Wing
3 Jet Black Stinger
Declare a Chimera (Doesn't matter if you fail.)
Frame Value: 544
Profit in crack at 1.12: 65.28E
Secondary = 97 Compromising Docs = 48.5E
12 Actions to make and sell
113.78/12=9.48 EPA
So to fix it for this week, just remove the albatross wing and chuck in an extra Amber Crusted Fin. The secondary is only 40.5 echos but the frame will be 2.5 echos more valuable. You can also swap the doubled skulls for Bright Brass Skulls if you don't have doubled skulls to burn. You can also swap the fins for pincers if you want. You can also just chuck together whatever sort of crazy creature you like, with 9 menace and as much implausibility as you like. I like to use prismatic frames because they are hard to use elsewhere. You either need to waste tail slots or waste head slots.
That's it for me for this week. Happy Crackling Week and see you next time! Backup Boneman Begone!
