Merrion, Dublin With Kids

Wanted to review my family’s recent stay at the Merrion in Dublin with my husband and two kids. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, I didn’t see any other children guests but they were great with ours.

Thanks to Merritt from Sarah Lee for arranging interconnecting suites, which we needed.

The hotel’s location is ideal, next to a park and playground, and close to Dublin’s historic sites. We checked in very early, likely due to Merritt’s influence, which was great since our flight arrived early.

Our rooms in the historic building were spacious, with firm beds and soft duvets, and nicer than the website photos suggested.

The hotel was fantastic with kids, offering coloring books, a scavenger hunt, child-sized robes and slippers, and an Irish children’s book.

We received a welcome amenity of fruit, cookies, and chocolate, which was appreciated. The complimentary dinner was a highlight, especially after a long day sightseeing post an intercontinental flight. The food was delicious, and the restaurant was a popular tourist spot with upscale attire. They didn’t have N.A. cocktails, but that’s a minor issue.

Breakfast was complimentary and included both ordering and a buffet. The staff were helpful and respectful, and turndown service was prearranged, ensuring we weren’t disturbed while recovering from jet lag.

Overall I’d absolutely stay here the next time we’re in Dublin.

For those interested, we also stayed at the Balmoral in Edinburgh, the Savoy in London, a private villa in Puglia, and Rocco Forte House in Rome. Happy to provide reviews of any of those.
