Is this squirrel nuts?

For the past few weeks, I’ve been walking my dogs a certain route. While doing so, a squirrel has been darting at us in the street just staring for like 3 seconds, and then going into their tree to stare at everything. Does this squirrel have babies? Is it rabies (no foaming at the mouth or aggressiveness beyond charging at us)? Or is this squirrel just nutso? I’m curious! Doesn’t help one of my buddies is reactive to the squirrel and is bamboozled everytime the squirrel does this…
