AITAH for not wanting to invite my bio dad to my wedding?
My (34/m) dad and my mom split when I was 2. My dad didnt fight for any custody, and instead entered the Marines shortly after the divorce. He has since said that he did it because the divorce hurt him so bad
I've been raised by my step dad and mom since I was about 4.
He has his own family now. We have spent less than a year together my entire life. I have visited him and his family multiple times, my step mom and my 3 half siblings. They are all nice to me, but I came to a realization recently.
I was always idolizing my bio dad, and it was because I subconsciously wanted him to be my dad again. I dont know why it took me so long to realize, but now I know that will never happen. He has his own kids now that he raised since they were kids, and im kinda part of his past. He still sends me stuff on my birthdays, I do for him and wish him happy holidays... but I just dont know if I want him at my wedding
Why would I? He has his own family now. Idk, I feel like inviting him would be just a formality more than anything. Im more my step dad's son than his to be honest. Hes not really in my life and im not in his.
AITAH for not inviting him? I just dont know if it would do anything for me having him there. And he gets to see his son married after not fighting for a half part of custody? He has two children who he has a way bigger connection with than me
