Shifting from "FOMO buying" to a simplified sealed collection strategy
Lately I’ve been feeling the fatigue of constantly trying to keep up with every product drop and release. It feels like I’m always chasing the next thing. Between surprise drops, exclusives, and reprints, it’s tough to keep up without burning out (or overextending the budget).
So I’ve been thinking about switching to a more structured, repeatable strategy. Instead of chasing everything, my plan would be:
- 1–3 booster boxes for each set - depending on how much I like the set / print run outlook
- 1 Pokémon Center ETB - since they tend to be more limited & desirable sealed
- Maybe 1 regular ETB for variety or collection purposes
- If I have funds available, I'd like to also pick a PSA 10 copy of my favorite card of the set
That way I stay consistent, build a solid sealed collection over time, and avoid the stress of “catching them all” when it comes to products. Anyone else dealing with these struggles? Also, does this strategy make sense for long-term investing/collecting, or am I missing key products by not diversifying further? Just trying to simplify it
