Why Mountaintop of the Giants is annoying
Elden Ring has a standard formula for its bosses, you stumble upon them and they kick your ass _ times until you beat them. A VERY important part of this formula is that almost every boss has a respawn point near them, so that after they kill you 17 times in a row, you get to try again right away. This basic design choice makes it easy and fun to fight a boss over and over again, because traveling an extended distance just to die for the 17th time is not fun.
With that said, whyyyyyyy do so many bosses on MotG not have respawn points next to them??? This is my first playthrough of ER, and with a few exceptions (fuck that Gargoyle Duo), I've fought and beaten every boss I've come across. But in this region, so many bosses require legitimate travel time every time I go to fight them again, and it really makes me not want to bother. I don't know if this is designed to make the game "harder" because it's one of the last regions, but all it does for me is cause annoyance and take away from how great it is to fight these brutal enemies until I overcome them.
The worst I've seen so far has to be Commander Niall. Every time he kills you, you have to run (on foot) all the way through Castel Sol and then use a very slow elevator to get back to him. Maybe I'm just an impatient baby, but man after the 10th time of going through that process to get back to him, I had completely lost interest in fighting him for the time being.
