Old motherboard died

Hello!

As per the title, my (very) old motherboard died, and so I'm looking to get a new motherboard and CPU. My old CPU is an Intel 3570k for reference. I doubt it's worth mentioning the exact motherboard, but I can find that if needed. My current graphics card is an Nvidia 1070.

I'm on a budget (ideally, less than $300 but I'm flexible) and don't necessarily need new/top of the line components. I was pretty content with what I had and don't really need much more to play what I'm interested in. I'm also not familiar with what parts are good these days. So, I'm hoping for help picking out a quality mobo/cpu/ram combo. I would be open to recommendations for a budget GPU if anyone has one.
