Calling all Women’s Health Nurses/NPs
I’m currently a NICU nurse nearing my 3rd year of nursing. I love babies and I love the need for critical thinking, but sometimes the pressure and the personalities of my coworkers is a lot for me, as I’m a more reserved person at work. I feel like ICU settings tend to attract the competitive mean-girl types. I know there’s a million avenues for nurses, and in a perfect world I’d like to go back to school to further my education and earning potential. I’m just not convinced it’ll be in NICU, as I don’t see myself working in a hospital “forever”. That being said I wanna know what you did/would do to transition to the path of women’s health nursing, women’s outpatient care etc with the goal of being a WHNP. Also, if you’ve worked in these areas, I’d like to know the good, the bad, and the unbearable. I’m on my second job in a new city in 3 months and I’m still getting the itch to keep looking.
