Parking tips for WVU vs Kansas at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium (Lawrence 9/20/25)
figured i'd share some parking advice for the mountaineers game since it can get a little crazy around the stadium on gamedays. getting in and out can be a headache but it's manageable if you know where to look.
first up, the easiest option is prked. it's a website where people who live right by david booth kansas memorial stadium rent out their driveways or garages for the game. honestly, it's usually way cheaper than the official lots and you get to park super close. the best part is you totally skip the insane traffic jams getting into the big lots and it’s just a short walk to the stadium. a couple friends did this last season and said getting out after the game was a breeze.
if you want to go the more traditional route, you've got a few choices. most of the lots right next to the stadium are for williams fund donors, so if you don't have a permit, you cant park there. KU does have public parking in a few lots, like the Allen Fieldhouse Parking Garage and lot 72. you'll probably pay around $30, and they are first-come, first-served, so they can fill up. getting out of the garages can take a while after the game, sometimes over 30 minutes.
a really good pro tip is the downtown shuttle. you can park for free at the garages downtown (one at 6th & New Hampshire, another at 8th & Vermont) and then hop on a shuttle that takes you to the stadium. there's a small fee for the bus ride but it saves you from the worst of the traffic right by the stadium. the shuttle starts running a couple hours before kickoff and for about an hour and a half after the game ends.
there are also a bunch of cash lots around the stadium that are great options. the islamic center of lawrence is only about two blocks away and is a popular spot. a lot of the frats sell spots too, like phi kappa psi which is super close. you can also usually find parking at lawrence high school and just walk over. these spots can be great for a quick getaway after the game.
you can try to find street parking in the neighborhoods nearby, but you have to get there pretty early and be super careful about reading the signs. they are very serious about ticketing on game days, so double-check that you're in a legal spot.
if you need accessible parking, lot 59 and lot 94 are the main spots right by the stadium. they are also first-come, first-served and cost about $30. you have to have your state-issued tag with you.
no matter what you choose, the biggest advice is to get there early. traffic gets thick, and it’s better to be tailgating and relaxing than stuck in your car when the game starts.
hope this helps and go jayhawks
