Balancing shift work, ADHD, and socialising?

Questions/Advice

Hi everyone, I was diagnosed ADHD-Inattentive in 2017 and currently work full-time in hospitality. I love my job, and when I’m on Concerta/Xaggitin I’m great at it — focused, friendly, and even able to keep up with chores at home.

The problem is balancing my meds with real life:

  • My hours are all over the place, so keeping meals/sleep regular is tough.
  • Stimulants suppress my appetite and make me more sensitive to alcohol.
  • After work, socialising usually means going for drinks, but on meds I feel tipsy after one pint. Off meds I can drink normally, but then I have no energy for anything outside work.

I want to keep succeeding at my job and still have a social life, but I can’t find the balance. Has anyone else dealt with this mix of ADHD meds, shift work, and alcohol/social culture? Any advice would be appreciated.
