Blade (probably) won't have a Wolverine moment where he suddenly becomes viable

Discussion

Back when the game was new and Wolverine just came out, and everyone was still figuring out how to use him, people thought he was low tier. Then they figured out tech involving his lunge, and he became viable.

The reason this can happen with Wolverine and not with Blade is because of Objective Value.

Objective Value is ways you can influence the enemies that isn't just dealing damage. Wolverine has lots of objective value, with his lunge and his ultimate. The only objective value Blade brings is his anti healing and a very slight slow on his dash.

It's a lot harder to make maximum use of characters where much of their strength is objective value. With damage, it's not hard to figure out how to deal maximum damage and who you should be dealing this damage to. Beyond that is just the universal, fundamental mechanics of when and where to move. Whereas with something like Wolverine's lunge, it can be a lot less intuitive when the optimal time for usage is.

"Blade's healing is a high skill ability! Knowing when to use it will take time and skill!"

Firstly, here's a video of the #1 Blade player never using sword. https://www.reddit.com/r/BladeMarvelRivals/comments/1n2uf2o/for_the_skill_issue_crowd/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

But if we pretend E is not a dead ability, you're right, knowing exactly when to use your E has a very high skill ceiling. I think it's a very well designed ability. But the value E can bring is finite and calculable. It does ~91 damage per second at max stacks, resulting in around ~32 self healing.

It's a lot harder to calculate how much value dragging the enemy's tank into your team will bring. You won't know if your team can kill them, or where to drag them if your team isn't entirely grouped up, or if the tank will be able to escape before you can get to them.

I really want Blade to be cool, but right now he just feels like a stat checker.
