Concept of Tawassul in Pakistani Society

Question / Help

Hey guys, I consider myself a Muslim, more inclined towards Shi’ism due to my love for Ahlulbayt and because I have been learning about Shi’ism as well.

I have a question regarding the concept of Tawasul, Waseelah, Wasta, or Sadqah. I have read about these concepts both in Ahadith and in the Qur’an. I learned that we can make our Dua through Tawasul, Wasta, or Waseelah. But as I observe the Shia community in Pakistan, especially in rural or village areas, I find it very confusing how they seem to have turned this concept upside down, in their Majalis, gatherings, and even in daily conversations. I could be wrong here, but I am only willing to learn. I believe in Al-Kafi and the major Shia books, where Ahadith are authenticated through proper chains of narrators going back to our Imams.

Coming back to the main question, I personally believe that what we say reflects our true reality and it shapes our intentions as well. It cannot be possible that we say one thing while our intentions are something completely different.

I wanted to know if, as Muslims, we can say certain sentences I have heard in the Pakistani Shia community, specifically in rural or village areas, or if they are considered ghuluw (exaggeration), such as:

  1. “Mola qabool kareyn” (May Mola Ali A.S accept your act or deed).
  2. “Mola ki aman mein” (May Mola Ali A.S protect you).
  3. “Mola madad kareyn” (May Mola Ali A.S help you).

Isn’t this the very thing that Imam Ali A.S himself taught us to avoid, that we should not directly seek help from him, but rather ask through Waseelah, or Tawasul? And then the concept of only Allah being the protector?

I am just a layman, willing to learn, and I would really appreciate an answer with explanations.

And I was also confused about this story that I once heard in regards to such type of Majalis. The story was that on the Day of Judgement, when Imam Mehdi A.S will be fighting the Dajjal, and as the Dajjal seems to be gaining power over Imam Mehdi, Imam Ali A.S will rise and break out from their grave and help defeat the Dajjal. May Allah forgive me for even repeating these words, but I am only describing it exactly as I heard it. My heart does not really believe in this, nor does it align with the type of people who accept such stories. Kindly guide me on this matter as well, It can be very confusing sometimes.
