watched show before book
hi! just finished listening to the audiobook, but since i watched the show first i had a good idea of how things would “go”
here are my takeaways:
-
i don’t prefer one over the other, but the ending in the book was far more impactful (specifically Daisy singing the original Honeycomb and the conversation between Daisy & Camilla) and had me sobbing for a couple of minutes
-
i missed having the tension between Camilla and Eddie and felt their relationship in the show added something that the book was lacking
-
in the show, i immediately sensed the chemistry between Billy and Daisy, but in the book i was genuinely confused. The romance that the show highlights between them doesn’t really emerge until about a quarter of the way through the story at least not from Billy’s perspective. which i really enjoyed this aspect of the book, because it really drove home how much Billy was repressing feelings.
-
graham’s character was wildly different in terms of character description, but i preferred it over book Graham because it offered a nice contrast to Billy’s bravo macho facade
-
Karens ending on the show was more powerful
-
i like how the show reinvented Teddie, Simone and Rod
-
i still don’t feel like i’m team anybody and just really enjoyed having multiple versions of this story
