Mrs Kim and Emily

I’m rewatching and I find Emily and Mrs. Kim similar in how they wanted to control their daughters. But the difference I see as the show progresses Mrs. Kim may not have wanted the life Lane chose the same way Emily didn’t want the life Lorelai chose. But with Mrs. Kim she came to understand Lane and still have this way that if this is what she wants she’s going to make sure she does the best. For instance when the band was breaking up and Lane was going to move back in with her. I’m sure we all expected her to be happy but instead she let her know she didn’t raise her to quit. Mrs. Kim started out as an Emily but adjusted for her daughter. Emily never really tried to understand or change her ways at least somewhat for Lorelai.
