No "Repeat on" time option during swimming on Pace 3--am I missing something?
I recently got a Pace 3--my first smart watch--and I have been loving it except for a huge flaw while swimming: it doesn't show a "repeat on" time on the rest screen for swimming. "Repeat on" is what Garmin uses to refer to Last Lap Time + Current Rest, and it is essential for any pool swimming.
In a typical swim practice, you'll be given a set with various "send off times" and distances. For example:
- 3x100 @ 1:30
- 2x200 @ 3:00
- 1x300 @ 4:30
This means that, for a 100, you have 1:30 to complete the swim + rest before leaving for the next 100. E.g. if you finish the 100 in 1:20, you get to rest for 10s before you start the next. If you finish in 1:15, you get 15s of rest, etc.
So when you finish an interval and press the lap button, you want to see 3 things:
- Last lap time (or Interval time)
- Current rest time
- "Repeat on" (last lap time + current rest time).
- You would wait for this to be 1:30, press lap again, and then start the next 100
Garmin's swim activity actually shows these 3 things, but the Pace 3 only shows the first 2 on the rest screen (unless I am missing something), AND you can't edit the rest screen--only the activity screen. This is dumb, because the rest screen is the most important screen for swimming--you only look at your watch while resting! You could try to add the last lap time and current rest time in your head, but that isn't feasible during hard sets with short rest, and the last lap and rest times don't show milliseconds, so even mental math can be off.
I tried talking to Coros on here about this in another post, but I don't feel like they understand why this is a problem. Does anybody else know a workaround for this or whether Coros has any plans to update the swim activity? Letting us be able to edit the rest screen would be essential.
Also, there's a delay when pressing the lap button and transitioning to the rest screen, which is very annoying when you maybe only have 5s of rest. Garmin transitions instantly.
I would love to keep the Pace 3, because it's a great watch and a better deal than a Garmin, but I swim every day and will have to return it for a Garmin if this can't be addressed.
