I have gone through 8 routers in 6 months. Verizon is my worst enemy (long story).
Been a customer for over a year (unfortunately - it is either them or Comcast). In the last 6 months, I have gone through 8 routers. Nothing about my time with Verizon has been easy, all starting on the first day of making an account. Even so, 6 months ago, my first router randomly stopped working. Still showed white lights, but all of my devices said no internet.
For the first 4x, I would be on chat with support for hours, doing the same stupid steps. It was always the same. I only have one spot in my small apartment to put it, it is by a window, in a downtown, the tower is only a few blocks away. So they keep sending me new routers. The 4th router arrived, I plug it in, it dies 5 minutes later (no joke).
Now a tech guy is sent out. He says how odd this is, but gives me a new router (5th). Two weeks ago, needs to come back, my router died again (same shit, different day). He says he hasn't seen this in my apartment complex before and only a handful of people in my town with this problem. He says it is the tower that probably needs fixing. He gives me my 6th router.
Then yesterday, I wake up, my 7th router has died. 11am, I am contacting support. I tell them to please skip all the stupid steps and just try and send me out a guy before the long weekend (I work from home and I work on Sundays). They say I can either wait till Monday or go to pick one up at the nearest store. I choose to go pick it up.
Now mind you, it took from 11am to 3:30pm to order a new one because I kept getting escalated to new people and then I would keep replying to chats but new support people wouldn't reply, so it would disconnect. BUT FINALLY at 3:30pm, I am cleared to pick up router #8.
I get home 5:30pm (even the Verizon store guy was confused by what was going on). I contact support while I set it up so I can cancel the old router from my account. LITERALLY 3 minutes and running, it dies AGAIN. They say they will send someone out this coming Monday.
I go to log into my account today because I wanted to confirm someone would be coming Monday and not Tuesday as the ticket says, only to find out my Verizon number no longer is active.
I reached someone by going through the Sales line, am on call with support for 40 minutes, and then the call disconnects.
I try to call 4 more times before I finally get someone to promise to call me back because every time someone tried to transfer me, it would disconnect.
Apparently, the last customer service rep yesterday removed both my Verizon number and router and didn't tell me my new number. Then today, it wasn't ever really registered, making me need to make a whole new account, basically. And tbh, I still can't tell which account I am paying from or using (idk how to explain, it is such a mess).
12 of the last 48 hours has been on call with Verizon. I need to move. Why they won't commit to fixing their tower is beyond me. Why pay for a service they can't commit to? It is shameful.
