How are you guys affording to apply to like 10 or so schools?

I guess this is more of a rant than a question, but I've seen so many people posting their chances of getting into a variety of schools and it's like 10-14 schools. How the hell are people affording that? I can barely afford to apply to like 4 schools and I asked all those schools for fee waivers. Are you guys somehow getting the reporting fees waived by your school? Genuinely, I'm asking/not trying to ask in a mean way - how?
