3rd party services to rehab facility

Caregiver Discussion

Hi all, my Mom is two months out from an ischemic stroke. Left side of her body is paralyzed and she is experiencing pretty significant cognitive difficulties. She’s been in a subacute rehab since the stroke (nursing home/rehab) and has made some progress physically (leg is moving well and her hand just started) but not much mentally. We are concerned that she’s not getting enough cognitive therapy where she is (practically none) and are trying to get her into an acute rehab facility where she’d get more comprehensive services all around, but she doesn’t qualify just yet due to the level of intensity there. In the meantime, are there any 3rd party services anyone can recommend that we can bring to her where she is now? Does such a thing exist? She can talk and has long term memory, but little to no short term and is very withdrawn and non conversational (total opposite of how she was before). We’d definitely consider paying out of pocket if it was worth it.

For context, she is 70 and wasn’t in great health before this (chronic heart failure) but still had a good quality of life.
