Troubleshooting help: 2010 Pioneer receiver w/ bose surround sound home system
i have a Pioneer VSX-1020-K and a bose home theatre surround sound system (speakers: 2 front, 2 back, 1 center and subwoofer). My receiver is connected to the tv. my ps4 and cable box is connected the receiver. We had contractors over the other day working on the roofing in the corner of the subwoofer and the wiring that runs to the back speakers (the wiring is all exposed and along the walls). After the contractor left, the speakers don't work anymore. only on max volume can i hear the subwoofer make mumble sounds (like listening to a song from the upstairs and its playing in the basement).
this is what i tried so far:
-i removed and refastened all the terminal speakers
-ensure all hdmi, in/out cables are plugged in properly
-i did some testing on the receiver (dont know what, was just playing around with it). home menu > system setup > manual SP setup > channel level. From here, by going thorugh each speaker to change the output level, it is playing the pink/staticy/blurry noise from all speakers.
-i traced the wiring where the contractors were working, there wasn't any visible dings/scratches/bends to cables.
-unplugged subwoofer rca cable from receiver. unplugged back speakers, same issue, unplugged everything except center, same issue. i will try unplugging and testing each individual now.
WHAT DO I DO PLS HELP? idk anything about these stuff, i'm just trying to help my mom out. i tried troubleshooting with chatgpt, they said its a wire short or something that the receiver detected and it automatically goes into protection mode, blocking out normal audi output but allows low level output
