Advice on doing brakes 2007 Ford Fusion.

I've always set my parking brake anytime I need to jack a car up but if I'm changing the brake pads would that cause any problems? This will be my first time changing the brake pads but I've seen it done and watched videos of it so I'm hoping it will go smoothly, but that's one question I have that I haven't seen answered. Thanks for any advice.
