Homebrew Mechanicus Forge World

I do not know if it is the best place for post it or if there is another more appropriate place.

So I created an homebrew mechanicus forge world with communist/anarchist inspiration. The basic idea is that some member of the mechanicus rediscovered "Das Kapital" of Marx and misread it as an Omnissiah wisdown. I principaly take inspiration of the soviet/anarchist aesthetics and organisation for making my forge world.

I want to be clear that my post is not destined to talk about real life politics. I want discusion about the absurdity of a giant robot named "Holy word of Marx" or something like that, no a debate on the viability of communism in real life. So. I hope my post do not create problems.

With this cleared, I hope you appreciate my homebrew mechanicus and do not hesitate to share your thoughs about it !

Name : Fabrica Anarkhos-Cogitatum

Type : Minor Forge World (military & civil manufacturing)

Sector : Northern Ultima Segmentum

Foundation : Reclaimed/formalized in the late XXXVIII Millennium (38st millennium on the ruins of a human colony originally founded in the XXIV Millennium (24st millennium) and lost by the XXX Millennium 30st millennium).

Specialty : Energy-based armaments for the Astra Militarum; robust civil machinery for rimward agri/industrial worlds. No anti-grav tech — relies on heavy walkers and legged combat chassis.

Status with Mars : They are Suspect but tolerated by Mars and the Inquisition. They are not important enough for greater surveillance but they are useful against the diverse threat of the Imperium bordure.

Leadership : Dual system — a Supreme Military Commander (Marshal) and a Council of Syndicates.

Short history

Anarkhos-Cogitatum was a scattered colonial world whose records were smothered in the Age of Strife. Rediscovery and formal refounding occurred during the XXXVIII Millennium when an expeditionary Mechanicum cell stabilized the planet’s massive, ancient manufactoria. The first member of the new forge world found ancient libraries dating back to the dark ages of humanity. They found many fragments of ancient political text like “Das Kapital” by Marx but also various other authors like Mikhail Bakunin, Peter Kropotkin, Emma Goldman, Vladimir Lenin, Rosa Luxemburg, Errico Malatesta, etc… and they misread them as Omnissian scripture. Lacking full Martian endorsement and with sparse planetary resources, the nascent forge-world began to apply things they have read and interpreted in the ancient texts they have rediscovered, leading to an unusual, internally durable, and fiercely productive polity that the wider Mechanicum watches with both irritation and relief.

The Creed : “Omnissiah of the Working Engine”

Anarkhos’s religion is a syncretic cult in which the Omnissiah is venerated through the personhood of the laboring collective. Scattered treatises and salvaged pamphlets from the Dark Age were found among the ruins; the Tech-scriptoria reclassified these as Analects of the Machine-Collective and integrated them as holy commentary. The result is a theology that:

  • Treats workers/tech-priests/servitors as sacred vessels of the Omnissiah’s will.
  • Equates exploitation and "capital" with spiritual corruption; enemies of collective production are deemed heretical “capitalists.”
  • Permits limited reinterpretation of code — a practical tolerance for unorthodox techniques so long as the Machine remains sovereign and no daemonic or xenos compromise occurs.

Political & Administrative Structure

The forge world follows an unorthodox organisation.

  • Council of Syndicates (Collegium Syndicatus)

    • The main civic organ. Each Syndicate oversees a domain (Energy, Armaments, Logistics, Civic Works, Skitarii, Research-Guilds, etc.).
    • Syndicates organize internally as kolkhozes — collectives responsible for specific product lines (e.g., Kolkhoz-Tankworks, Kolkhoz-Reactor).
    • Governance models vary by syndicate to reflect the diverse ideological interpretation of the many ancient texts : some run as workers’ councils (delegated committees), others elect a single manager for a set term, and a few follow quasi-meritocratic technocracy (senior tech-priests dominate).
  • Supreme Military Commander (Marshal)

    • The military governor has operational authority over planetary defense and the Skitarii cohorts. He or she serves alongside the Collegium Syndicatus for governing the forge world. The Marshal commands the military aspect of the forge world and the Collegium Syndicatus the rest. The Marshal holds veto power on large-scale mobilization and external diplomatic pacts.

This competitive and byzantine structure produces inter-syndicate rivalry which results in both a driver of innovation and a chronic source of factionalism.

Economy & Industry

  • Main outputs : energy weapons (beam rifles, capacitor artillery, directed-energy tanks), walker chassis, heavy machine components, civilian powerplants, agricultural mechanization.
  • Inputs : local mineral extraction; light orbital trade for rare alloys; salvaged pre-Imperial tech fragments.
  • Labor : skilled humans, augmented tech-priests, servo-arms, and masses of servitors organized into kolkhozes.
  • Social policy : the forge world enacts pragmatic worker protections (mandatory safety calibrations, fixed rest-cycles, public maintenance funds) justified as religious rites — both humane and useful for steady production.
  • Allocation : resources are distributed competitively — syndicates lobby for allocations; success is measured by delivery metrics and ritual efficiency displays.

Technology

  • Energy weapons are the specialty (capacitors, plasma conduits, and condensed phase-lances optimized for mass production.)
  • Limited STC capability : Due to their limited size, recent history, lack of greater allies, etc… This forge world lacks prestigious technologies like the anti-grav one. Instead, they produce less advanced vehicles like legged heavy combat walkers and armored retractor-trains.
  • Innovation stance : pragmatic pluralism. Heretical or experimental designs are tolerated if they’re concealed, yield results, and avoid daemonic/xenos contamination. This “don’t-ask-don’t-tell” pragmatism creates unconventional and sometimes lethal field gear.

Military role & doctrine

  • Primary role : supplement and equip Astra Militarum forces as front-line force multipliers; field experimental energy artillery and walker squads.
  • Tactics : heavy-stomping walker columns supporting infantry, concentrated energy barrages to breach fortifications, rapid redeployment of capacitor artillery batteries. Campaigns : frequently deployed against Orks (their massed shock attacks suit Anarkhos’s walkers) and Chaos incursions (where their pragmatic tech tolerance is tested).
  • Command culture : The Officers and commanders on campaign have latitude to adapt, improvise, and requisition local tech — earning grudging trust from the Imperial Guard, but suspicion from orthodox Magi.

Society & Culture

  • Worker cultism : The workers are celebrated as an important force for the quest of knowledge. They are encouraged to follow the path of Saint Stakhanov, an ancient worker whom legends say was touched by the Omnissiah himself.
  • Anti-capitalism fanaticism : anti-capitalist purges are common for those deemed collaborators; dissent is managed by re-education workshops or harsh consignment to hazardous salvage. This can cause problems with other forces in the imperium who don’t understand this stance or can be themself victims of this fanaticism. But this is tolerated because in the majority of cases, those “capitalists” are enemies of the Imperium.

Relations with the wider Imperium

  • Mars / Adeptus Mechanicus : Mars and other orthodox forces within the mechanicus regards Anarkhos’s reinterpretations of the Martian creed as deviant theology. Still, production output and battlefield reliability keep formal ties intact. There are, however, periodic doctrinal probes from Mars attempting to reassert orthodoxy.
  • Astra Militarum : functional allies ; many Imperial officers appreciate the world’s pragmatic enginery and field autonomy for Skitarii officers.
  • Inquisition : keeps a cold eye on heresy and hidden technologies; local authorities maintain tight secrecy on “experimental” projects.

Notable Person —

  •  Marchal Valeria “Reductor” Helensk. She is the actual marshal of the forge world at the age of five hundred years olds. A veteran of many harsh campaigns against diverse enemies of the Imperium, she has managed to rise through the ranks of the forge world military. She is known for her pragmatism and her courage. As a simple skitarii officer, she has managed to unite and hold an hive city for 1 year against green skins after all her superior has been killed. After that, she was promoted to command one of the most illustrious skitarii divisions, the 17-Σ “Reductor” Skitarii Guard Division.
