Credit Card Repayment Agreement
I have 3 offers for a repayment agreement with my credit card company. It’s considered a hardship due to job loss. I’m already a few months behind on payments. Balance is 22K. I have job prospects in the works and hope to be employed full time soon but no definite timeline yet. Option 2 seems like a no brainer but here are the options:
-
Pay $495 now, then $345 for 12 months at 9.99% interest, account closed -no late fees -reduced APR while enrolled -pick up regular payments after program ends
-
Pay $495 now, remaining payments $269 for 72 months at 0.99% interest, account closed -no late fees -reduced APR while enrolled -pick up regular payments after program ends
-
Fresh Start: Pay 3 payments of $681 to get current, account closed -Also continue to be charged late fees until current. -Pick up regular payments after “getting current “ with this plan
Tell me why I should choose something different than option 2? If I get the job and am able to pay it off sooner, I will. But I’m thinking anything can happen and better to be safe than sorry. Is there something I’m missing here? I have no idea how any of these will be reported to credit reporting agencies, but plan to ask. However, damage is already being done.
