Opened steam, pirate cursor, crash

I just opened steam to check for updates as per usual only to be taken straight to the download queue screen and have my cursor swapped for a pirate cursor and a crash a second later when I clicked

Im absolutely kicking myself for not having shadowplay on for video proof

Is this some kind of piracy detection or am I hallucinating
