Is this kind of tracing still considered art?
i tend to over-explain things so heres an overexplanation:
im not a super advanced artist but ive discovered pixel art. I use an app called pixil.art and it lets you put a traceable photo in the background. i use normal pictures, find the dimensions and divide them by three (or until its around 300-600 pixels for height and width) and make them into pixel art. the app doesnt let you colour pick from the background photo whatsoever, so ive had to use a colour wheel to find the colours and since its pixels, they dont blend, so i have to find every single transition colour, and fill in every individual pixel in frame, and i find it takes me a VERY long time to complete the whole thing. more than 20 hours per photo on average. ive found its not that easy to trace something in a scale of pixels when it wasnt pixelated in the first place. (obviously every photo is pixelated just i change it from like 1200x1200 into 400x400) The finished results always look just like a detailed pixelated version of the original, with my own small adjustments to certain colours or things i just dont want in the photo, but it definitley feels like some form of originality. I absoloutley love doing this and want to post results, but im not sure what people would think when they heard i traced it. Obviously if i did post anything id give credits to whoever originally took the photo i used, or id say which movie or series it is from, but i still want to know if my hard work is still considered art at all.
i dont care if it is or isnt, ill still continue doing what im doing, but i want to know if its considered original and if people would like to see it and would actually recognize the work i put in even if its traced.
